Irena Brokas Chambers

Irena Brokas Chambers is a multi-media artist, working in oils, pastels, watercolor, and collage. For the past several years, she has explored the synthesis that painting can provide among visual elements, intellectual pursuits, memory, and meaning. Today, the Appalachian landscape provides her most persistent inspiration.

“I love the undulations of this land, its simplicity, clarity, and changeability. These shapes, how they connect, interact, and change are my obsession: mountains, fields, trees revealing rolling and curving nature, where the only straight lines are in the meager human structures: houses, barns, and sheds.”

Since the pandemic, Irena’s work also explores the power of nature as seen in areas untended
and unaltered by the human presence.
